Rest and Refresh

Updated: Apr 5

Rest. The word feels like a "bad" word that shouldn't be said. Life is so busy, work, kids, family, sporting events, practices, laundry, the list goes on and on. There seems to not be enough hours in the day.

Often people worry others will think they are lazy, not motivated, uncaring and more if they are not in a constant state of motion. Here comes guilt knocking at your door. Don't answer it! You deserve time to rest. Taking time to rest has benefits too.

  • Rest allows the body to repair tissues, strengthen the immune system and regulate hormones

  • Quality sleep reduces inflammation and promotes cardiovascular health

  • Enhances mental clarity and focus (brain fog is real!)

    • The brain processes and consolidates information during rest, improving memory and decision making

    • Rested minds are more creative and better at problem solving

  • Reduces stress and burnout

    • Down time lowers cortisol levels, decreasing stress and preventing burnout

    • Engaging in restorative activities like meditation, nature walks or deep breathing enhances resilience

  • Balances Emotions and Enhances Well-being

    • Promotes emotional regulation, reducing irritability and mood swing

Give yourself permission to rest and refresh! Your health needs it.
