Client Experience

Before I started working with Mary Ellen I was in a bit of a dark hole dealing with a newly diagnosed auto immune disease, high anxiety, and an over all dull life. However since I started nurse coaching light had started to shine through that dark time and I have had a complete turnaround from the life I was living. I am now working full time, eating healthy, and exercising daily. I feel better physically and mentally.

Throughout the sessions Mary Ellen kept a professional and empathetic attitude and made me feel extremely comfortable sharing my issues that I had and never once did I feel uncomfortable.

After the sessions I had a great knowledge of the food I was eating and just how much my diet and attitude affects my daily life. I have a much higher energy level and a positive attitude towards life. Most of my anxiety has also gone away. As I am now able to go places myself and enjoy doing things by myself.

I would 100% recommend this coaching to anyone as I feel most people don’t understand just have much little things can affect their life and how little changes can turn that around.

Earlier this year I began working on losing weight and getting healthier. Last year I was diagnosed with Uterine cancer and had a hysterectomy. I have struggled with losing weight all my life.

When I started working with Mary Ellen, I was just repeating the things I had done in the past to lose weight. With her encouragement I have started keeping and posting a weekly menu, planning my meals and not just counting calories. I'm still struggling with meal prepping but I'll get there. The handouts you sent about eating well and chair exercises have been very helpful. I enjoyed working with you and appreciate your encouragement and helpful suggestions.

When I began the nurse coach program, I was deep in the clutches of depression, unwilling or unable to manage my health issues and skeptical of any plan to help based on a "nurse coach".  I had tried similar programs in the past.

This was different.  Mary Ellen took time to really get to know me as an individual.  I was not just a number on her case load or an image on her computer.  Even though our sessions were electronic, she made great eye contact and it felt as though she were right there with me.

At 64 yrs old, it is difficult to find too many new ideas for health management.

But, Mary Ellen stayed engaged and made sure we were addressing all issues with multiple possible solutions to choose from.

We addressed the depression first, setting small manageable goals.  Get out of bed.  Get dressed by 8am.  Open the window shades and let the light in!   Eat something healthy.  Exercise. Read my Bible.  Get some prayer time in. Do an art moment.  Practice my piano.   In otherwords, reclaim my life by 11am each day.  And journal the journey.  Be positive.  Track results.

Mary Ellen was there coaching me along my journey each session.  Asking the real question:

     What is working? WHY?

What is NOT working? Why and how can we address it?

A big part of the reason for my success is due to the simple fact that, unlike other medical persons, Ms. Sparks embraced my whole person, not just my lab results.  She was a spiritual leader, a friendly face, a fierce proponent in my corner and a guiding light in a dark landscape.

The experience has been, by the grace of God, transforming.
